There is a possible national threat for the end of this month. I am pasting the information I have below. The current assessment is that this is possible but not guaranteed. Wanted to give you all a heads up to give to your people.
InFocus: PRIVATE INTEL WARNS OF IMMINENT TERROR THREAT TO HOSPITALS
Command Eleven, an apparently Pakistan-based private intelligence firm, is warning of an imminent terror attack against U.S.-based hospitals.
A complex attack involving a vehicle-borne IED will target “a hospital in a mid-tier [U.S.] city” followed by a swarm of armed attackers immediately taking hostages. (Analyst Comment: Hostage scenarios historically involve demands for the release of imprisoned members of terrorist groups. It’s at least possible that attackers do not expect a swap, and instead want a protracted media event for psychological effect.)
Command Eleven reports this event will happen within the next three weeks. The Islamic State will reportedly take credit. (AC: Three weeks from the date of information is Monday, 07 April. Islamic holiday Eid al-Fitr runs from Saturday, 29 March to Sunday, 30 March.)
Sarah Adams, a former CIA analyst, who’s made similar claims of an impending terror campaign said her organization is treating this report as “credible and are advising medical facilities to run drills and harden security.” Adams added that the Command Eleven was able to confirm information similar to what she’s collected from Afghanistan-based terrorist training camps.
Why It Matters: Adams has been warning for at least the past year of large scale Islamic terror attacks in the United States. Adams has claimed Islamic terrorist organizations, including the Islamic State and al-Qaeda, are planning attacks against soft targets, such as hospitals and event venues, with a desire to kill 50,000-60,000 Americans. According to Adams, groups of 5-10 armed attackers will target gatherings in Mumbai-style swarm attacks. Adams’ organization has previously claimed that about 1,000 sleeper agents are currently in the United States. If accurate, then we could see independent terror attacks numbering in the dozens to low hundreds.
A “mid-tier city” is typically considered as having a population between 500,000 and one million. Other sources say mid-tier cities have populations as low as 100,000. There are roughly 15 cities that meet the first definition, and as many as 60 if you include metro areas. There are some 350 U.S. cities with populations above 100,000 but less than one million.
We’re unable to confirm or deny the claims of Command Eleven and Sara Adams, however, my approach to these claims considers feasibility, appropriateness, consistency, and timing (FACT). Is it feasible that Islamic terror groups will target a hospital in the next three weeks? Yes. Is it reasonably appropriate for terrorists to attack a civilian target such as a hospital in the next three weeks? Yes. Is it consistent with what we know about the tactics and desired objectives of Islamic terror groups? Yes. And finally, the timing of this warning does coincide with Eid al-Fitr, an Islamic holy day where suicide bombings have historically occurred abroad.
I concur there’s a need to treat this seriously and be prepared for potential terror attacks. We also advise Early Warning Network members to consider stocking up on supplies for their medical needs now, because local and regional shortages are almost certain following a large-scale terror attack. Saline shortages continue to be reported, as well, following disruption to a major supplier from Hurricane Helene last year. – M.S.
