* First Republic Bank: Regulators seized the bank early today and sold its deposits and most of its assets to JPMorgan Chase Bank. First Republic is a San Francisco-based bank and the third to fail in the last two months. The FDIC stated that all of First Republic’s 84 branches in eight states will reopen as branches of JPMorgan Chase Bank and those with deposits will have full access. * New Federal Housing Policy- Set to begin today, the policy “is aimed at helping lower-income borrowers afford their monthly mortgage payments – it would do so by forcing people with good credit scores to pay more each month for their mortgages, extra payments that would be credited to the loans of higher-risk borrowers.” Today, financial officers from 27 states, Republicans and Democrats, urged President Biden to end the policy and called it “unconscionable” and that it was a mistake even before it started. | ![]() |

Thoughts for the day |
“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.” – Thomas Paine |
Advisory |
– Fire Watch * https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/ -Warnings/ Advisories (NOAA) Warning: A warning is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely. A warning means weather conditions pose a threat to life or property. People in the path of the storm need to take protective action. Advisory: An advisory is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely. Advisories are for less serious conditions than warnings, that cause significant inconvenience and if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life or property. Watch: A watch is used when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location or timing is still uncertain. It is intended to provide enough lead time so those who need to set their plans in motion can do so. A watch means that hazardous weather is possible. People should have a plan of action in case a storm threatens and they should listen for later information and possible warnings, especially when planning travel or outdoor activities. * Wind Advisory: Apple and Lucerne Valleys; Coachella Valley; Riverside County Mountains; San Bernardino County Mountains; San Diego County Deserts; San Diego County Mountains; San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast; Santa Ynez Mountains Western Range, San Luis Obispo County Beaches; Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches, Antelope Valley; Eastern Antelope Valley Foothills; Eastern San Gabriel Mountains; Western Antelope Valley Foothills; Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 Corridor, Indian Wells Valley; Mojave Desert; Mojave Desert Slopes, Imperial County West; Imperial Valley; Salton Sea, Imperial County Southwest, Western Mojave Desert, Eastern Sierra Slopes of Inyo County; Morongo Basin, Death Valley National Park, Owens Valley; White Mountains of Inyo County. * Air Quality Alert: Chiriaco Summit; Chuckwalla Mountains; Imperial County Southwest; Imperial County West; Imperial Valley. * Special Weather Statement: Cooler, Unsettled Weather this Week – snow showers and thunderstorms – Greater Lake Tahoe Area; Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties; Mono; Surprise Valley California. * Flood Warning: Fresno; Kings; Tulare. * Flood Advisory: Fresno; Madera, Plumas. – Weather (South Bay/ San Jose) * Air Quality in the South Bay Area is Good. * Sunrise – 0613 hrs.
